Trecking around Iceland, Day 3, Fjaðrárgljúfur Canyon

The day's destination is Jökulsárlón Glacier Lagoon. Before that, there are still many places worth a visit.  Fjaðrárgljúfur Canyon is one of that place. 

Canyon Fjaðrárgljúfur Canyon, 100 meters deep, about 2 km long, a huge crack in the mountains. There seems to be roads that people able to go to the bottom of the canyon. Internet have pictures that took the bottom of the canyon. We're in a hurry, so we didn't try to find that road, we walk around the the top of the canyon cliffs, but it was enough to shock. Carefully looking at photographs, you may be able to experience, but still not enough to express our immersive feelings of the moment.

Perhaps you have heard, there is a huge crack in Iceland, and that is the dividing line large cracks on the American continent and Eurasian continental plates, located Reykjavik (Reykjavík) near Thingvellir National Park ( Þingvellir National Park). we also went there, in fact,  this Fjaðrárgljúfur Canyon is just as strong as that.

There is a small farm in the road leading to the canyon. There raising several batches beautiful Icelandic horse. Iceland horse, is quite different form the horse we saw normally. although not tall, but handsome, long bangs almost cover the eyes, full of personality. In fact, I want to ride the Iceland horse for a try. But finally unable to do so, this is another reason for coming back the next time.

Under particular the polar climate, Iceland almost have no trees. The tundra is Iceland's most common form of vegetation. One of these vegetation call the Mossy Lava Rocks. It wrapped lava stone. These often be seen on both sides of the road, with a secretive atmosphere like being in outer space.

The reason for recommended here, is that  there is the nearby parking, convenient on-street parking, and there is some gravel road for walking. so that we can try not to trample these little life when visiting.
